Just for babies and their grownups! Bring your baby for some cozy, active time on your lap. Baby storytime is designed for meaningful one-on-one interaction between baby and caregiver. We'll have songs, rhymes, a book or two, and plenty of activities for both of you that are developmentally appropriate for children from birth to when they start walking. Storytime is followed by some time to stay and play with your baby or talk to other caregivers. This storytime is geared toward ages 0-18 months.

Join us at the stage of Children's Wonderland Park for fun, songs, and stories every Wednesday at 11:15am! This weekly storytime runs from April 23-October 29 thanks to a partnership with GVRD. Location: 360 Glenn St. Vallejo, CA 94590 Free parking in the lot between Children's Wonderland and Vallejo Parent Nursery School. Enter through the castle doors guarded by crocodiles to the magical world of Children's Wonderland! Climbing features include a pirate ship, train, "steaming" teapot and much more! Admission: Admission to Children's Wonderland is free for Vallejo residents. Visitors from outside of Vallejo may be asked to pay an entrance fee of $5 per person. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and adults may not enter without a child. Weather: Dress appropriately! The storytelling area has covered seating, and it can be chilly in the mornings during the spring and fall. It warms up quickly during the summer. Children's Wonderland will remain closed on rainy days. To check for closures, please visit . In case of unexpected park closures, families are invited to spend the day playing at the Vallejo Springstowne Library.

The Vallejo JFK Library offers the Lawyers in the Library program on the first and third Wednesdays of every month .Each meeting is 15 minutes. Space is limited and slots fill up on a first come, first serve basis. Please call us at (866) 572-7587 or come in-person at 9am on the day of the program to reserve a spot.

Join the Vallejo Run Club on our weekly Saturday morning and Wednesday evening runs. Our group meets, rain or shine, next to the Vallejo Ferry Terminal. We run 1-3 easy miles. Beginners to ultra marathoners welcome!

We are celebrating the birthday of the one and only Geoff Drake on May 7 in The Empress Marquee Club. Timm Walker will be performing along with many special guests. Timm runs a good-time dance band called BeaufunK and plays with one of the longer-lasting Zydeco bands in California and has toured with major artists.

A 4-week book club cycle for teens 12-16, May 1 through 22. During the first three weeks, teens will read a book. In the final week, the movie adaptation will be shown. Enjoy some light snacks, make new friends, and engage in lively discussions. Book 1 is "The Martian" by Andy Weir

This monthly gathering, lead by Britt Sandkulla-Sinclair of Golden Thread Alchemy, explores the connection between personal practice and collective action, creating space for those who believe the two are inherently linked. Based on Sarah Lyons' transformative book of the same name, we explore the radical roots of witchcraft as community care, self-preservation, and resistance. From kitchen table remedies to protest protection, historical practices to modern applications, we're reclaiming tools that have empowered the marginalized for centuries.

Please join us for May's Memoir Book Club when we will be discussing "The Translator's Daughter" by Grace Loh Prasad on Thursday, May 8th at 7pm. Born in Taiwan, Grace Loh Prasad was two years old when the threat of political persecution under Chiang Kai-shek's dictatorship drove her family to the United States, setting her up to become an accidental immigrant. The family did not know when they would be able to go home again; this exile lasted long enough for Prasad to forget her native Taiwanese language and grow up American. Having multilingual parents--including a father who worked as a translator--meant she never had to develop the fluency to navigate Taiwan on visits. But when her parents moved back to Taiwan permanently when she was in college and her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, she recognized the urgency of forging a stronger connection with her birthplace before it was too late. As she recounts her journey to reclaim her heritage in The Translator's Daughter, Prasad unfurls themes of memory, dislocation, and loss in all their rich complexity. The result is a unique immigration story about the loneliness of living in a diaspora, the search for belonging, and the meaning of home. Here's a small disclaimer: I went to graduate school with Grace, and she is an extraordinary writer. In fact, I still think about one of her pieces all the time, decades later! Celebrate AAPI month with Springstowne Library and Jie Jie's Art Box. Join us as we craft bracelets and small boxes using weaving techniques that were used in many AAPI cultures. Two galleries, Cinco de Mayo celebration, one inspiring night! Temple Arts Gallery and the new Solano County Arts Council Headquarters on Virginia Street will both be open with works from regional and local artists on display. The event promises to be a vibrant celebration of local visual and performing arts, with a diverse range of offerings to appeal to all tastes. From jewelry and fashion to sculpture and paintings in oil and watercolor, attendees will have the chance to appreciate a wide array of artistic talent on display. The Solano AIDS Coalition and U.N.I.D.O.S will merge their efforts with Vallejo ART Walk in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. Cultural performers will take the stage to entertain and enlighten the audience. Among the acts scheduled to perform are "Los Diablos del Valle de Napa," Ballet Folklorico Nekzayolin, Sobrecuerdas, and Ballet Folklorico Quetzalli. These performers will showcase the rich cultural heritage of Mexico through their traditional music and dance, offering a glimpse into the country's vibrant artistic traditions. As always, the Artwalk remains committed to fostering inclusivity and creativity, making it an open and welcoming space for all. Visitors can explore local galleries, street performances, artisan vendors, and live entertainment throughout downtown Vallejo.
