SOLANO COUNTY – There will be a general election on Nov. 8 in California and across the country to decide Congressional representation for the next two years. In Solano County, there are numerous local races and ballot initiatives.
There are three city council races in Vallejo, two in Benicia, sales tax measures in both cities as well as countywide, a Vallejo school board race, and races for mayor of Vacaville and Solano County supervisor for the Fairfield-Suisun area.

It’s easy to vote. Early voting began on Oct. 11 and ballots can be returned at any time by placing the ballot into the provided envelope and dropping it into any mailbox. No postage is necessary and ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 8 in order to be counted.
In addition to any mailbox, you can drop off your mail-in ballot at one of 14 secure drop boxes located throughout the county. Starting on Nov. 3, there will also be 10 curbside drop-off locations, where you can stay in your car and hand your ballot to a poll worker.
Voters may also vote in person on Nov. 8, although the county reduced its locations for in-person voting by 30% this year. That includes reducing the number of polling places in Vallejo from 36 to 23.
But according to the county, more than 90% of voters in Solano County choose to return their ballot either by mail or at a drop-off location rather than voting in person.
Still, if you would feel more secure placing your ballot into a drop box or prefer to vote in person on election day, we’ve created this guide to help you find the closest location to you. You can also enter your address on the county’s website to find your polling location.
