VALLEJO — This Friday night will be funky, when Lazwell & Starchild Jr. groove out at the downtown Vallejo Odd Fellows Hall.

Lantz Lazwell toured with George Clinton & the P-Funk All-Stars, and Starchild Jr. is the son of P-Funk’s guitarist/vocalist Garry Shider. The two carry the torch of the P-Funk legacy and deliver a performance steeped in deep grooves, wild energy, and cosmic soul.
This month’s Indie After Dark series at the Empress Lounge features Meli Levi and Kristen Ford on Thursday evening. Levi’s emotive vocals, layered arrangements, and evocative storytelling combined with Ford’s high-energy, innovative sound will make this a prime attraction for lovers of authentic indie music.
Papa Joe & The New Deal will hit you with soul, R&B, reggae, old school funk and Latin rock on Saturday afternoon at Vino Godfather, and the Byran Girard Jazz Trio will play a dinnertime set at Manny's Steakhouse on the Vallejo waterfront on Saturday.
Easter is this Sunday, and what kid doesn't love an egg hunt?
The Vallejo Springstowne Library is hosting an egg hunt and wind up toy race on Wednesday afternoon.
Then on Saturday, Twitch's Egg-Stravaganza comes to Children’s Wonderland Park. Two morning sessions will offer egg hunts, photo ops with Twitch the Easter Bunny, games and music.
On the other side of town, a No-Plastic Egg Hunt will be held midday at the St. Vincent's Hill Community Garden. Kids can hunt for colorful eco-eggs and be whisked away by the Frotello Marionettes puppet show. Free food and live music will round out the event.
Cunningham Pool will celebrate recent upgrades with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday afternoon. Upgrades to the facility include enhancements to the registration office, new ADA-compliant restrooms and showers, and the addition of a children’s pool. Guests will enjoy complimentary snacks, and giveaways. The first 50 attendees will receive a free recreational swim pass, valid for one entry during the 2025 summer season.
Now is the time to plant your garden. Pick up free plants, cuttings, and seeds, or trade your extras at the Mira Theatre’s plant swap on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Master gardeners will be on hand to share expert tips.
Vallejo Together will raise funds to support our unhoused neighbors with a Spring Paint Party at the Vallejo Moose Lodge on Friday evening. Sip wine and create your own spring-themed painting. The $50 ticket includes painting instructions, painting supplies, appetizers, one glass of wine and one raffle ticket.

Lantz Lazwell, who has toured with George Clinton & the P-Funk All-Stars, is a larger-than-life figure, part guitar hero, part comic book character, who fronts his band. Starchild Jr. is the son of iconic Parliament Funkadelic guitarist – Gary “Starchild” Shider. He carries on his father’s legacy with a cerebral, instinctual approach to rhythmic funk guitar.
This will be the first Mr. Hat Presents and Bisslist Presents show at Odd Fellows Lodge in Vallejo, aka San Pablo Lodge. The show is in a magnificent big tall space with a great stage and dance floor, stained glass windows, and lots of old school charm.
