VALLEJO – Two shows are closing this weekend: You can catch the last day of “The Reflective Art of an Indigenous People” art exhibit during the Vallejo Museum’s “Free Family Day” Saturday, and Vallejo Shakespeare in the Park is closing their gender-fluid production of “Hamlet.”
The Hamlet production, which has been free in Hanns Park and around the Bay Area until now, will conclude with two fundraiser shows at Vino Godfather winery on Saturday and Sunday. A suggested donation of $25 will help the troupe present free shows to underserved communities.
In other events, saxophonist and singer Nancy Wright will perform backed by her Rhythm and Roots Band tonight at the Empress Lounge. Wright delivers solid soul blues, funk and soul jazz originals with fresh blues, roots, and Americana renditions.
August Summer Nights continues tomorrow with two musical acts: The Beau Funk band, and David Bustamante & Bobby Santos. Food trucks, a beer garden and local vendors round out this fun and vibrant event.
Catch some local hip-hop at Free Music Collective’s “Keep It A Thou Wow: Summer Madness.” The six-hour show on Friday evening features a dozen artists, food, drinks, and local vendors.
Vallejo Center for the Arts is holding a disco-themed fundraising gala for the Empress Theatre at the Chardonnay Golf Club in American Canyon on Saturday.
Check the listings below for more art and music, including a variety of live music offerings at Bambino’s, Vino Godfather and the Mare Island Brewery Taproom, and a free Zumba workout at the library.
