VALLEJO — A new chapter in Vallejo’s arts and cultural scene will begin on Thursday afternoon at the Mira Theatre’s grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Moon Azteca Dance and Art School.
The school will serve as a home where culture, dance, and tradition come to life, cultivating passion, heritage, and the next generation of artists. Guests will enjoy a live performance by Moon Azteca, showcasing the beauty of traditional dance, local wine and cuisine from Lunitas Kitchen, and a presentation about Mira Theatre’s plans to expand its artistic and cultural impact.
On Saturday afternoon, Mare Island Art Studios will open a new gallery show “From Life,” a collection of sculptures, paintings and drawings inspired by live human models. This retrospective showcases artist Jean Cherie’s extensive career in sculpture and her dedication to capturing the essence of the human form.
On Wednesday evening, you can catch Marina Crouse at the Empress Lounge. A classically trained singer, Crouse is known for her versatile vocal style and musical influences that intersect soul, blues, R&B, funk, and a heavy nod to her Chicana heritage.
