VALLEJO — There’s a wide variety of music and events in Vallejo this week, including a performance by a new generation of tenors, the return of Poetry by the Bay, plus regular drag shows and blues.
Of course, it’s also Halloween weekend, and for a full rundown of those events check out our Halloween column.
Three celebrated tenors will pay tribute to the Three Tenors — Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo, and José Carreras – at the Empress Theatre on Saturday.
“Three Tenors! – The Next Generation” will feature popular songs and arias by Verdi, Puccini, Donizetti and other well-known Italian opera composers. Internationally renowned conductor Thomas Conlin conducts the Vallejo Festival Orchestra and tenors Taylor Comstock, Spencer Hamlin and Alex McKissick. Tickets start at $35 and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.
A longtime Vallejo staple, Poetry by the Bay, where two of Vallejo’s Poet Laureates got their start, brings a cathartic evening of spoken word art to the Mira Theatre tonight.
This is the last weekend to catch the On the Fringe production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” at the Vallejo Museum.
Mare Island Art Studios has Dia de los Muertos-themed painting classes on Friday and Saturday, and Dia de los Muertos altar where you can leave a remembrance of a loved one during the art exhibit on Sunday.
Townhouse Cocktail Lounge will host the Town House Divas for a fabulous drag show led by the infamous Holotta Tymes into the wee hours on Saturday night, and then dial it back for the Ramblers playing acoustic Americana, folk and blues on Monday night.
